Most of my 32 divided light vinyl clad windows in new construction in 2000 are now experiencing a seal leak on the lower window pane. This is causing the lower sash on these very expensive window and doors to rot away without even seeing the damage taking place until its too late. I have $85,000".00 in specialty casement windows, fixed and french doors that are all experiencing thi issue/. I am told my warranty was 10 years?. I am in my 11th.. specifically the sal on the lower window panehas shrunk, dried up or cracked,. As the rain comes down the window it goes between the vinyl and glass and soks the wooden sash'. The sash rots from inside and cannot be seen until its too late;. I am sure this took place during my warranty period but went undetected;. A number of windows do not operate so there is no need to touch them

| 2. Written by RH on February 23, 2012 from revere, massachusetts, US Pella does not make vinyl clad windows, they are aluminum clad. Windows are not maintenance free. You need to read your warranty BEFORE you make such a purchase. You have a responsibility to inspect the windows at least yearly and if any gaps develop between the glass and cladding, either seal them with silicone or call Pella. Of course if you ignore them for 10 years and start seeing stains and rot on the interior wood, it is often too late. I have had no issues at all with my windows and doors and find their service to be great. Their rates are comparable to every other window manufacturer in the country. Good luck finding a service dept. for some of the other brands as you will need to call lumber yards and see if they can find someone to come to your home. |
